Indonesia, JAKARTA (Feb. 1, 2018) – The first new Datsun CROSS rolled off the production line at Nissan’s plant in Purwakarta, West Java, Indonesia.
This brand-new flagship model is Datsun’s third in the Indonesian market and the sixth globally. A multifunction, multitask compact crossover, the Datsun CROSS comes equipped with CVT transmission – a first for Datsun models – and a full suite of safety features.
“The Datsun CROSS is officially underway for Indonesian customers, with the first deliveries planned in March,” said Eiichi Koito, president director of PT Nissan Motor Indonesia. “The start of production of this most awaited model is proof of our commitment to the Indonesian market and our customers, and a celebration for our employees.”
An international team of designers and engineers developed the Datsun CROSS to suit the tastes and needs of our customers and to tackle a variety of road conditions in Indonesia. The new model opens a new chapter in the Datsun brand’s journey in the country, targeting an even wider audience than before.
Nissan Motor Indonesia’s plant covers 359,600 square meters and employs about 2,400 people, producing Datsun and Nissan models for the Indonesian market. All cars are built in accordance with the Nissan Production Way’s global processes for manufacturing and quality assurance.
“Behind the new Datsun CROSS is the operational excellence of Nissan's engineering and manufacturing operations. It’s my pleasure to have an opportunity to express my gratitude to thousands of colleagues in the plant and in our supply chain who worked hard to make this important event happen,” said Fumitoshi Yoshikawa, vice president of manufacturing at Nissan Motor Indonesia.
